MY  NEW NORMAL

In July, 2018 I was diagnosed with cancer – Stage 3 Renal Cell (Kidney cancer).

This was a life changing event, and I am now a cancer survivor and will forever be looking over my shoulder, awaiting its possible return.

After surgery in September, I spent three months recovering, both physically and mentally. I began to return to my “normal” routine. I slowly began to realize, that I was returning to a “new” normal.

I was different. My psyche had been attacked and I knew I would never be the same.

So, I began to think – what to do.

With great fear, I am reinventing myself. I sold my car, bought a cargo van, and am embarked on a new journey where the destination is unknown.

I have become a house sitter and immediately landed “gigs” in Colorado, Oregon, and California.

I have a planned trip to New Hampshire to see my daughter and grand kids. I will also see my elderly mom in New Jersey, living in my hometown.

Along the way, I will connect with other members of my cancer community forum – SmartPatients.com. This forum was a lifesaver for me, allowing me to whine, a lot, and express my feelings, whatever they may be.

So, I want to meet them, and the offers have poured in.

Join me on this journey, if for no other reason than to see the world through my eyes.

The lens has changed.
